The final program for ATMO MAC 2026 has been released

ATMOsphere, publisher of NaturalRefrigerants.com, has announced the final program for the ATMO MAC Summit 2026 × TU Berlin, which will feature presentations from Ford, Tata Motors and Volkswagen.

Ford and Volkswagen are returning presenters, having spoken about their research and work with propane (R290) and CO2 (R744) MAC systems, respectively, at previous ATMO MAC Summits. Tata Motors is a first-time presenter at ATMO MAC and will be discussing its work with UNIDO on a pilot project to develop R290 mobile air-conditioning (MAC) systems. The automakers will be joined on stage by Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), the national railway of the Netherlands.

ATMO MAC will be held September 29 in Brussels and is being put on in partnership with Technische Universität (TU) Berlin’s Department of Heat Transfer and Heat Conversion. It is expected to attract guests from some of the world’s top automakers and automotive suppliers as well as policymakers, researchers, academics and government officials. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.

Stefan Elbel, Head of the Department of Heat Transfer and Heat Conversion at TU Berlin will kick off the event with a presentation focused on his work with natural refrigerants in the mobile air-conditioning sector and lessons learned. There will also be a presentation on market trends from Mobility Global, formerly S&P Mobility Global. At its ATMO MAC 2025 presentation, the company said China would lead the global transition to natural refrigerants in electric vehicles.

Technology case studies are a major part of the program. Along with cars, these case studies will focus on natural refrigerant-based MAC systems for buses and in transport refrigeration. Companies presenting technology case studies include:

  • Hanon Systems
  • Shanghai Highly Electrical Appliances
  • Dorin and Konvekta
  • Creative Thermal Solutions
  • Valeo
  • Bergstrom
  • Eberspächer Sütrak
  • Italian National Research Council (CNR)

PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) will also be on the agenda. The Coalition for PFAS Free Cooling and Heating will present the latest TFA (trifluoroacetic acid) modeling from the MAC sector, which is based on new fleet-based modelling from the Hanon Systems white paper on mobile air conditioning refrigerants.

In addition to the sessions, there will be networking opportunities throughout the event, including a reception at the end of the day. Tickets for the ATMO MAC Summit 2026 can be purchased here, and free passes are available for OEMs, government employees, NGO employees, members of the media and academics.

The platinum sponsor of the 2026 ATMO MAC Summit is Hanon Systems. The silver sponsor is Shanghai Highly Electrical Appliances, and the bronze sponsors are CTS, Dorin and Konvekta.
