ATMOsphere and Arneg Korea Host Event in Seoul

ATMOsphere, publisher of NaturalRefrigerants.com, and Arneg Korea hosted ATMOsphere Network South Korea in Seoul on June 25. The event was focused on the use of natural refrigerants in South Korea and featured a keynote from SungKyu Lee, CEO of Arneg Korea, a case study on the country’s first supermarket to use a transcritical CO2 (R744) refrigeration rack and a video message on the transition to environmentally friendly refrigerants from National Assembly Member Lee Hak-Young.

“The Korean market is now entering a full-scale transition toward natural refrigerants,” said Lee, during the event’s keynote address. “We currently operate approximately 50 CO2[R744] refrigeration installations in Korea and overseas, and another 200 sites are scheduled to come online beginning this August.”

ECOOLTEC’s TRUs a Fit for Most Electric Trucks

ECOOLTEC has announced that its CO2/propylene (R1270) transport refrigeration unit (TRU) is compatible with most electric trucks. The TRU is compatible with electric transport trucks with electric power take-off systems that use either alternating or direct current; the company notes that few truck manufacturers offer both. In May Nivalis Energy Group, formerly SolarEdge e-Mobility, showcased a fully electrified semi-trailer featuring ECOOLTEC’s TRU at the 2026 Transpotec Logitec trade fair in Milan.

LG Releases Launches New R290 Heat Pump in Europe

LG has released the Therma V in Europe, a new monobloc air-to-water heat pump using propane (R290) refrigerant for space heating and domestic hot water production. The Therma V is designed to work in ambient temperatures as low as -28°C (-18°F) and can deliver hot water at 75°C (167°F). The Therma V comes in several models and offers between 7–14kW (2–4TR) of heating capacity.

U.S. Supreme Court Refuses to Hear Challenge to AIM Act

The United States Supreme Court has declined to hear a challenge to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (U.S. EPA) ability to reduce HFC production and imports under the AIM (American Innovation and Manufacturing) Act. The New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA) brought the case to the court on behalf of Choice Refrigerants, a refrigerant distributor based in Alpharetta, Georgia, which said the AIM Act reduced its business by a third.

The NCLA argued that the EPA was granted an unconstitutional degree of discretion and raised concerns around the nondelegation doctrine, which limits how much authority Congress can give federal agencies. The denial to hear the case solidifies the ruling of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, which previously rejected Choice’s arguments.
