Öko-Recherche is conducting a survey on behalf of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG Clima) into alternatives to synthetic refrigerants in mobile air-conditioning and heat pumps and transport refrigeration. The survey seeks experiences with "cost-effectiveness, technical feasibility, energy efficiency and reliability of non-fluroinated alternatives, and any implications when it comes to refrigerants and/or technologies that can replace or reduce the use of currently dominant fluorinated refrigerants in the relevant application."
ATMOsphere, publisher of NaturalRefrigerants.com, recently held ATMO MAC 2026 in Brussels, an event dedicated to natural refrigerants in mobile air-conditioning (MAC) applications. Presentations focused on end user experiences with natural refrigerant-based MAC systems and the technological advancements being made by suppliers.
